Corinne Levy

Hi! My name is Corinne Levy and I’ll be entering my senior year at Studio School, located in downtown Los Angeles, where I am working toward a BFA in Acting for Television & Film. I have been acting singing, and dancing since I was three years old. I love being on stage and performing, and I especially love to make people laugh. I am very fortunate to have parents who have continued to support my love for acting and have given more than they can afford to support my dreams.

My father was a correctional officer before he became disabled. He would share stories of what it was like to work in a prison with inmates who have committed the most heinous crimes imaginable. Unfortunately, my father sustained personal injury due to occupational exposure. He now suffers with anxiety, depression, panic disorder and agoraphobia from the stress of his job. Physical injuries are more prevalent and may be more easily acceptable, but in my father’s case, a psychiatric impairment caused by his job is not as easily measurable. I know he wishes he could do more for our family, but regardless of his injuries, I will always look up to him as a positive role model and loving father. His disability has placed a huge financial burden on my family. My Mom is an elementary school teacher. They just get by, yet they have put themselves in debt to help me go to college. I don’t qualify for financial aid, so I work multiple jobs when I am not in school to help pay for my loans. On top of that, the cost of living on the west coast and flying back and forth to go home for holidays or other events is an added expense.

Studio School is like no other college; it’s not just a campus, it’s an active Hollywood set! My campus is located at LA Center Studios, which is where many TV shows, movies and commercials have been, and still are being filmed!  At the end of this year I will be in our Senior Acting Showcase, where many talent agents and managers come watch the seniors perform. This past year, our first graduating class of actors had a very successful showcase; every single one of our actors were signed with a talent agency. Knowing that, I am so excited for what my senior year has in store for me! Without KCNJ, I wouldn’t even have the opportunity to be this close to achieving my dreams.

I want to thank Eastern Alliance Insurance Group and KCNJ for supporting my family and I. This incredible scholarship is helping me continue my education at a school that I know will prepare me for my goal of becoming a successful actress. It’s truly a blessing that my dreams actually have a chance of becoming my reality, and it’s all thanks to you! Thank you!!
