Scott Kwiatek

My name is Scott Kwiatek and I am a Senior at NJIT studying for a Bachelor of Science degree in Business. After graduation, my goal is to get a job doing accounting or marketing and work my way up to higher positions such as being a manager or a C-level Executive. Also, I plan on seeking out an internship to help give me a step up finding a job once I graduate. I really enjoy creating ideas and businesses and hope to create my own business one day. With the experience I will gain over the next few years I am confident about this becoming reality. I know I will be successful in my career.

I was born February 14, 1996. A couple of months after my birth, my Dad Louis Kwiatek Jr., died. He worked for a medical transportation company and was killed in a tragic building explosion while at work. It has not been easy on my Mom raising a child as a single parent. I am grateful for all she has tried to do for me. There were many days that I had wished I had a Dad around to talk to, play ball with, and be proud of me. My mom and I struggled financially. But, it has taught me that if you work hard you can achieve your goals. Throughout school I participated in sports, baseball is my favorite, studied hard to get good grades, and volunteered.  Overall, I am grateful to have had the support from my family, friends, and loved ones.

I have been an active member of the South Amboy First Aid Squad since I was 16 years old.  It is important to me to give back to my community. Equally as important was my desire to pay it forward by volunteering for KCNJ. I attend as many fundraising events as possible where I help run events, volunteer on the Gala Committee and speak as a representative to help bring awareness to this incredible organization. In 2017, I have been honored to be voted as a member of the Advisory Board of KCNJ. Without receiving the scholarship from the Kids’ Chance of New Jersey organization, I could only afford to go to a community college. Instead, I was able to attend my dream school, NJIT. I want to do whatever I can to help other kids achieve their educational dreams as KCNJ has done for me.

I would like to personally thank the Kids’ Chance of New Jersey for their generosity in sponsoring my scholarship that is allowing me to continue to pursue my educational dreams. Words cannot express how grateful I am.
